Theatre productions are the end product of a great deal of teamwork. Telling an entertaining story, and giving audiences a great night out requires the support of scenery builders, property managers, lighting technicians, painters, wardrobe mistresses and many others. Fortunately, all this behind the scenes work is fascinating, fun and fulfilling. It is a great way to meet interesting people and discover latent and unrealised talents. We have a tradition of mixing our acting and backstage activities. Not for us the backstage team who never get to meet anyone; actors are expected to lend a hand and, sooner or later, most backstage people get their moment of fame in front of the lights - although this is in no way compulsory. So if you are good with your hands or love the challenge of creating from scraps to a tight budget, why not join us on Sunday mornings at our headquarters from 10.30am until 1pm. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. We are also considering Friday morning sessions - let us know if these would be more convenient. For more information send us an e-mail, otherwise just turn up at our HQ on Sunday morning at about 11am. Scenery creation is all about creating an illusion and for one pantomime we required a cannon to be fired. The cannon was on stage for just a few moments, so we didn't want to spend a lot of effort on it. A couple of our more experienced people put their heads together and made this.... Click on the photo and you will see how they did it! It is impossible to list here all the myriad of skills we employ in putting on shows. If you are not good with your hands and do not want to act, come along and meet us just the same, there's almost certainly a space in the team for you.
